JAMMU: Police on Monday resorted to cane charging on PoK refugees who assembled outside the Circuit House to hold protest against the All-Party Delegation for neglecting the first ever victims of Jammu and Kashmir problem
Rajiv Chuni, Chairman SOS International said that Rajnath Singh led delegation visited Srinagar to hold discussions but except political parties nobody turned out to meet the parliamentarians, as if there is no problem in Kashmir valley. “The message from Valley is crystal clear but the real stakeholders of the State who wanted to meet All Party Delegation fell prey to Government’s ‘Pick and Choose’ policy.
On 2nd September, S O S International through proper protocol had written to Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, seeking time and the list of 12 members was submitted in his office but astonishingly, his office replied that only one person from SOS International would be given time to meet the delegation.
Chuni condemned the government for using force on peaceful protestors and arrest of 24 members of SOS International. “One of our senior members V.K Dutta got fractured on his right jaw due to severe hit by police with rifle-butt”, Rajiv said.
Alleging that Government has adopted a lopsided attitude in providing opportunity to stakeholders for meeting visiting members of delegation, Rajiv Chuni said that the real stakeholders viz-e-viz PoK refugees who were the first ever victims of Jammu and Kashmir problem were deliberately neglected by not giving them a chance to raise their plight.
Surprisingly, those who have nothing to do with the issues of PoK Refugees are given time only because, they are pro-Government. The Government has made it political ring where its favourite players were given full liberty to meet the delegation and those who are legitimate representatives and pro-people were kept aside. Then, what is the fun of All Party Delegation which has the agenda to meet stake-holders but one thing is clear that this kind of approach will fetch nothing but instigate the sentiments of genuine pro-India and patriotic PoK Refugees who decided to merge with India not Pakistan in 1947. They have never raised anti-India slogans and they will never do it in future also but it will amuse separatists and anti-India people who keep anti-national stand and have been raising pro-Pakistan slogans all the time. This is the real face of Government that is playing politics over this grave issue” he added. He further said that PoK Refugees are the same people who left everything only to merge with India as they keep India in their hearts. “We were targeted because of our religious identity and we have been living in shabby and dilapidated 39 concentrated camps which lack basic amenities include food, shelter, healthcare, education and other facilities. It would have been better if All Parties Delegation had visited in these concentrated camps. It would have been called a visit successful one if All Parties Delegation would have visited PoK (Pakistan occupied Kashmir) along with Valley. PoK Refugees must be given their much awaited justice as they have borne a lot”, he said.
“In Democracy, all are given free and fair chance to present their viewpoints but to pick selected individuals and bodies, can’t be called the Democracy and this is quite dangerous for the health of the country. Government is killing the ethos of Democracy by ditching the patriotic PoK DPs and appeasing the Valley people” Chuni stated.
