JAMMU: PoJK Refugees Front on Saturday protested against the State Government for creating hindrance in the process of implementation of the financial package sanctioned by the Union Government in August 2000.
Led by PoJK Refugees Front President Rachhpal Singh Chib, the activists assembled near Press Club Jammu and raised slogans against the State Government.
Chib said that the Union Government had directed the State Government to disburse the financial assistance among the PoJK refugee families uprooted from the Pakistan occupied area including Poonch, Mirpur and Muzaffarabad in the wake of Pakistan invasion of J and K backed by the hired Kabalies.
Chib said that the DPs are hopeful that the Prime Minister would issue necessary directions to Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh to include the other recommendations as also forwarded by JPC for making this package a complete.
He said that the rehabilitation package will be incomplete till other demands of 10 per cent reservation for the wards of DPs in professional institutions and Jobs, reservation of 8 Assembly and 2 Council seats for DPs are fulfilled and Development Board for the PoJK DPs
He warned the Deputy Chief Minister if he fails to redress their demands within 10 days all the refugees would intensify the protest and will sit on continues strike.
