JAMMU: The Displaced Persons (DPs) from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), today held protest in support of their one time settlement.
A large number of displaced families from PoJK assembled at Exhibition Ground near Press Club under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir PoJK DPs Front 1947, 1965, 1971 and started protest.
Rachhpal Singh Chib, President of the Front, who led the protest, demanded settlement of their issue once for all.
The DPs were also demanding that process of distribution of Rs 2,000 crore package announced by Prime Minister Modi be started though this little amount is not acceptable. They also rejected the notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner Jammu in this regard and said that it is confusing and most irrelevant. They alleged that only this meager package excluding other components recommended by the Joint Parliamentary Committee is not acceptable to them. He demanded that leftout families should also be enlisted/ registered, minimum Rs 30 lakh compensation be provided to each family, ALC certificate to all DPs, 15 per cent reservation to their wards in colleges, other professional institutes and political reservation to DPs and ownership rights to those allotted EP houses or given such lands.
