JAMMU: PoJK DPs on Friday observed Martyrs Day in memory of their nears and dears who laid down their lives in Pak aggression of 1947, 1965 and 1971.
To pay tributes to these martyrs a programme was held at Maheshpora Chowk here today. Two minutes silence was observed in the memory of these martyrs by the gathering.
Captain (retd) Yudhvir Singh Chib, President PoJK DPs Front along with all displaced persons went on Mirpur Chowk and paid floral tributes to martyrs. They also raised slogans in their honour.
The DPs carrying banners, placards and flags in their hands moved towards Vishwakarma temple, Bakshi Nagar and Rajpoura where a rally was addressed by Yudhvir Chib.
He said that thousands of innocent men, women and children were brutally killed by the Pakistani army and raiders after capturing Muzaffarabad, Mirpur district and two tehsils of Poonch District.
He also highlighted the present problems of DPs. He while referring to recent Rs 2,000 crore package as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the amount is not sufficient and the Government should accept the recommendations of JPC which favoured Rs 30 lakh package for each displaced family in view of losses suffered by them.
Chib said that the government demanding affidavit from the claimants of PoJK DPs for issuing cheque/online amount of Rs. 5.50 lakh to the each family adding that it has mentions in that affidavit in Para 4 that this is the full and final payment in future nobody can claim any amount.
He urged the DPs to be united and fight for their cause.

Sudesh Singh Chib, Kashmir Singh, Ashwani Kumar, Babioo, Bimla Devi, Ravi Angral, Kehar Singh, Thoru Singh Chib, K.L Bakshi, Balbir Singh, Mohan, Raj Kumar Verma, Tara Singh, Balwan Singh, Krishan Singh, Maan Singh, Subash Singh, Madan Singh and Bodh Raj Verma.
