PoJK DPs Front holds protest rally

JAMMU: PoJK DPs Front held protest here on Wednesday to project their demands.
Amid slogans and carrying banners, large number of PoJK DPs assembled at Canal Road (Bridge) near Pawan Ice Cream and took out protest rally towards Press Club Jammu by via Science College, Jewel Chowk and Dogra Chowk demanding redressal of their long pending demands.
“Chief Minister Mahbooba Mufti has already distributed 96 cheques of Rs 5.5 lakh to DPs of POJK few days back and other DPs who are waiting for their dues are facing difficulties due to documentary proofs because of non availability of documents in government old records and offices,” Captain Yudhvir Singh Chib, President of the Front told reporters.
Rs 5.5 lakh as one time final settlement is not acceptable by POJK refugees as the earlier Government of India had agreed for Rs. 30 lakh as one time settlement, he said.
He also disclosed that ration card for camp DPs of 1965 and 1971 are not available and 30 per cent families are unable to provide the State Subjects Certificates and original copy of land documents as this is not even available in government records.
Chib requested the gathering to remain united and aware about the policies of the Central and State Government.
J.P Sharma, Sakandya Devi, R.S Chib, Kulbir Singh, Thoru Ram, Hari Singh, Bablu, Ashwani, Rasal Singh, Pawan Salathia, Raj Kumar Verma, Bodh Raj, Balbir Singh and Tara Singh were also present.
