JAMMU: Public Opinion Forum (POF), a non-governmental social organisation, on Saturday held detailed deliberations with Inspector General of Police (IGP), Traffic, Jammu, Viplav Kumar with focus on management of ever growing vehicular movement on the city roads.
Over two-hour long question-answer session, followed by discussion on the important issues concerning general public came up during the deliberations. Finally, it was resolved by the gathering of around 50 prominent citizens and members of the forum to cooperate with Department of Traffic of J and K Police in making sense on the roads.
Giving a brief note of the initiatives being taken by the Traffic Department, the IGP said that a number of steps have been taken to make public life better with regard to traffic.
He also informed the gathering about these initiatives and their positive outcomes amidst assurance that points raised in today’s discussions shall be looked into on priority.
Accompanying the IGP, SSP Traffic Jammu, Mohan Lal sought cooperation from all the stakeholders and assured that things would be better in the time to come on Jammu roads, especially in the city.
Earlier, General Secretary of the POF, Dr Gopal Parthasarthy welcomed the special invitee, IGP Traffic and SSP Jammu as also members of the distinguished gathering for a free discussion on bunging issue of every growing vehicular movement and its management. Chairman of the Forum, Parveen Sharma presented a brief note on the aims and objectives of the POF and also divulged the details about organisation’s future course of action. He informed the visiting guests that efforts would be made at the forum level to create an atmosphere of cooperation between various agencies through such deliberations to make public life better in Jammu.
At the end, Treasurer of the POF, Sanjeev Sharma thanked IGP Traffic for taking part in a healthy discussion with the prominent citizens of Jammu. He, on behalf of the forum, assured Special Guest that Traffic Department will be extended cooperation in its initiatives to streamline the vehicular traffic. The management of Mehar Chand Mahajan Hall was also thanked for their support.
