PM to inaugurate Shrine Board’s Superspeciality Hospital on April 19

JAMMU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 230-bedded Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super Speciality Hospital on April 19. The facility has been set up by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board at a cost of Rs. 300 crore at Kakryal, near Katra under Private Public Participation (PPP) mode.
This was stated at a press conference here on Sunday jointly addressed by Dr. S. S Bloeria, Member of the Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Body of the Super Speciality Hospital; B. B. Vyas, Financial Commissioner, Planning and Development and Member Governing Body of the Super Speciality Hospital; Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, Chairman of Narayana Hrudayalaya and Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
Dr. Bloeria said that the Shrine Board has entered into an agreement with Narayana Hrudayalaya Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, which operates 32 hospitals across the country, for operationalisation of this Hospital.
Giving details about the aims and objectives of establishing the Super Speciality Hospital, Dr. Bloeria said that free of cost OPD services and diagnostic tests have already been operationalised at the Hospital from 15th March 2016 while the Hospital has become fully functional from 8th of this month. The Hospital has more than 20 different streams of medicine and surgery, including cardiology, cardio-thoracic surgery, neurology, neuro-surgery, nephrology, urology, oncology, pulmonology, bone-marrow transplant, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, trauma-medicine, paediatrics and neonatology, obstetrics and gynaecology, he added.
Briefing about diagnostic and treatment facilities put in place in this Hospital, Dr. Shetty said that the hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art computerised equipments to provide best possible diagnostic and treatment facilities to the patients. These include Linear Accelerator, Brachy Therapy, Gamma Camera, MRI, CT Scan, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, Bronchotherapy, most modern Dialysis Unit and other related facilities. He added that highly trained superspecialist doctors, nurses and other staff have been positioned at this Hospital to deliver the healthcare services. He claimed that earlier the patients of these diseases used to go o Delhi for treatment but now onwards the services available here will attract Delhi patients to come to this hospital.
Vyas also listed various facilities being made available at the superspeciality hospital while Sahu gave details of the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex at Katra which has been constructed at a cost of about Rs.11 crore.
The Complex has a capacity for more than 10,000 spectators, including 2,600 in a covered pavilion. The Sports Complex has a magnificent ground turfed with premium quality grass with sprinkler irrigation system for organising track and field events as well as team sports like Football, Handball, Cricket, Hockey and Kabaddi.
