Plan formulated for additional 9000 MW hydel power: Vikar


SRINAGAR: Minister of State for Power and Technical Education, Vikar Rasool informed the Legislative Council that the government has drawn up detailed plan for capacity addition of about 9000 MW of hydel power over 12th and 13th five year plan.
Replying to a question by Naeem Akhtar Andrabi, the minister said that funds to the tune of Rs. 1769 crore have been approved/allocated for the State sector projects from 2009-10 to 2014-15.
The minister further informed the House that power generations has remained a thrust area and funds have been earmarked for matching state share as per the requirement of the projects to be taken up during the year.
Replying to another question by Nurboo Gailchan, Vikar said that out of total sanctioned strength of 29 posts, 11 vacancies have already been filled at Polytechnic College, Leh.
The minister said that in respect of remaining 18 direct/promotion quota posts, the direct quota posts have been referred to recruiting agencies PSC and SSB, selection of which is awaited. He said, however, with regard to promotion quota posts, DPC shall be convened in due course of time. Dr. Shahnaz Ganai raised supplementary to the question.
