People protest against closing of old village road

UDHAMPUR: People of village Gol of Tikri area on Sunday held a protest against the closing of old road that connects the village to the national highway. The old passage has been closed by Ravinder Singh son of Punjab Singh about a week ago which is causing a lot of inconvenience.
The protestors including Prem singh, Panch Mamta Devi, Gandharav Singh, Naseeb Singh, Balwant Singh and others said , ” the locals are facing lot of inconvenience due to closing of this old way. “We appeal to DDC to kindly open this old way and give relief to the people. We appeal the administration to give justice to the people of village Gol. Otherwise these people will be forced to protest strongly” they said.
They appealed to the Sarpanch of Tikri Yashpal Sharma to look into the matter and solve the issue of local people. Otherwise the people will protest and may even go for hunger strike.
“As far as the issue of shifting of wine shop from national highway to this village is concerned, the local people belonging to this village have no objection to this. But outsiders are interfering into the matter and creating trouble. The shop that has been provided by Devinder Singh has no religious place or school nearby” they informed adding that there is no school, hospital, religious place or even residential area in about half kilometer of area , so the wine shop can easily be shifted in this village.
The Panch Mamta Devi , Prem Singh , Gopal Singh, Manushi Ram ( Lamberdar ) , Naseeb Singh, Gandharav Singh, Pritam Singh, Rtd Captain Deval Ram, Onkar singh, Babu Ram, Balwant Singh and others were also present in the protest.
