PDD daily wagers protest, demand wages, regularisation

JAMMU: The daily rated workers of Power Development Department (PDD), who are on strike for the last 249 days, held strong protest near Press Club here and then took out rally in support of their pending demands.
A large number of workers led by senior trade union leaders assembled at Press Club near main Tawi Bridge and started protest. They were demanding regularisation and release of their pending wages.
These workers are sitting on indefinite Dharna in the office complex of SE EM&RE, Circle Jammu Railway Road since November 28, 2016.
While speaking on the occasion, President, All J and K PDD Daily Wagers Union, Surjeet Khajuria demanded that higher authorities should regularise daily wagers of Jammu and Kathua districts under SRO 381 of 1981.
He said government conducted DPC of the PDLs/TDLs who have completed their seven years of service in the department under SRO 381 of 1981 for promotion of PDLs/ TDLs in Kashmir Division only thus deprived Jammu based PDLs/ TDLs employees of their due rights of promotion.
The union further stated that the daily wagers especially of Jammu District are the most sufferers as they are facing the partiality as compared with the other districts.
Surjeet appealed to the Deputy Chief Minister to personally intervene into the matter for immediate redressal of grievances of daily wagers.
He warned to intensify their struggle in near future if the government remained unmoved on their issues.
Gurnam Slathia, Chintamani Singh, Ashwani Kumar, Ajay Sharma, Parveen Sharma, Gurdeep Singh, Ashwani Kumar, Kiran Paul, Sanjit Kumar, Davinder Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Shamsher Singh, Sansar Singh, Ajay Singh, Bajrang Singh, Pawan Singh Chib, Suresh Singh, Bachan Lal, Pardeep Jamwal, Kishore Sharma, Ranjeet Singh, Latif Hussain, Rakesh Kumar, Sonu Kumar, Bansi Lal, Rajinder Kumar and Karan Singh were also present in the protests.
