PDD casual workers Hartal enters day 6

JAMMU: The Kaam Chhoro Hartal of casual workers of the Power Development Department (PDD), demanding release of pending salaries, entered sixth consecutive day on Saturday.
Under the banner of the J and K Casual Labourers Union, the protesting workers gathered at the Office of Chief Engineer, Bhagwati Nagar, here and raised slogans against the concerned department.
State President of the Union, Akhil Sharma alleged that the government had failed to meet their demands despite staging several rounds of protests in the past.
“The Chief Engineer has not filled up the biometric form of the workers till date despite the order by the Chief Secretary,” he alleged.
He also claimed that the government had not released their salaries for the past few months.
They demanded release of pending wages from Wages Head, regularisation and insurance policies for workers, filling up the 5,000 posts which were sanctioned in the year 2010 and end of discrimination with Jammu province workers and compensation to death/handicapped workers.
Jammu Province President, Shesh Kumar and Vice President, Sham Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
