PDD casual labourers protest enters day 50

JAMMU: Demanding regularisation policy for the workers engaged after 1994, Jammu and Kashmir PDD Casual Labourers Union held a protest, which entered 50th day on Monday. Amid slogans in support of their demands, the protestors urged the government to frame regularisation policy for all causal workers, who are working in the department for the past over a decade.They also demanded release of wages under proper Wages Head. They also expressed anguish meted out by the previous State Government by making false promises for regularisation of casual labourers working in PDD. Presently 3,232 casual/need based workers are serving in different divisions of EM and RE Wing, Jammu amongst which a good number of workers have rendered more than seven years of their continuous services at their respective places of posting, President, J and K Casual Labourers Union, Akhil Sharma said.
Protesters demanded release of pending wages from Wages Head, regularisation and insurance policies for workers, filling up the 5,000 posts which were sanctioned in the year 2010, end to discrimination with Jammu province workers and compensation to dead/handicapped workers. Jammu Province President, Shesh Kumar and Vice President, Sham Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
