STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has taken strong note of the incident of assault on the senior leadership of the party by the in-charge police officer at Mishriwala yesterday during Aakrosh Rally of the party and sought appropriate action in the matter.
PCC President G.A Mir, in a meeting held here on Tuesday, took stock of the situation in the aftermath of massive Aakrosh rallies all over Jammu Province. The meeting also expressed satisfaction that by and large the police administration acted cautiously, as the party had already announced to exercise their democratic rights in a peaceful manner with minimum inconvenience to the general public and the party leaders and workers behaved very responsibly obeying the instructions of the party leadership, in this regard.
However, the party expressed serious concern and condemned the partisan role of the In-charge Police Officer (SHO Khanachak) who not only failed to discharge his duty lawfully but intentionally and deliberately created a situation for resorting to Lathi-charge on the peaceful procession and assaulted the senior leaders of the party Th. Balwan Singh Ex-MLA and PCC General Secretary. The party has already taken up the matter with the higher authorities and hoped appropriate action would follow in the matter, failing which the party would pursue the matter vigorously and expose the anti-democratic and patrician role of the concerned police.
The meeting was attended by Senior Vice-President, Sham Lal Sharma, Ex-Dy CM Tara Chand, Dy. CLP Leader Aiyaz Khan, Vice presidents Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla, General Secretaries Th. Balwan Singh, Shabir Ahmed Khan and Vikram Malhotra.
