Patron JK Volleyball Association passes away

JAMMU: Patron Volleyball Associ-ation of Jammu and Kashmir Sudarshan Gupta passed away at Jammu on 1st October after a brief ailment. A condolence meeting was held on Saturday under the chairmanship of Raj Daluja Patron-in-Chief of Volleyball Association Jammu and Kashmir in which two minutes silence was observed for eternal peace to the departed soul and to give courage to the family members to bear this irreparable loss. Sudarshan Gupta the veteran player of volleyball was the founder member and pioneer in raising Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir State in 1972-73. He held many portfolios in the association and was Patron at present. He represented the State in National Championship as Captain and produced many players of national and international ranking.
Prominent among those present in the meeting include Sidharath Daluja President Volleyball Association, H.S Gill Vice President, Y. K Magotra General Secretary, R.C Sharma Treasurer, Kuldip Magotra CEO, Akbar Ali, Subash Sharma, Amarjit Singh, Mulakh Raj Sharma and Anchal Singh.
Meanwhile, Waheed Para, Ranjeet Kalra condole the sad demise of Veteran Volleyball Player Sudarshan Gupta.
Secretary of the J and K State Sports Council, Waheed ur Rehman Para and Vice Chairman of Sports Council Jammu Ranjeet Kalra have expressed deep shock on the sad passing away of Sudharshan Gupta, Veteran Volleyball Player of the State.
Para in a statement termed Former J and K Captain Sudarshan Gupta as the founding father of the game of volleyball in the State and one of the greatest players to have played for the Jammu and Kashmir. He prayed for the peace of the departed soul and for strength and courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss. Kalra in a separate message while expressing solidarity with the family of the legendary sportsman termed his demise as a big loss to sports community of the State, particularly to the game of Volleyball.
