BANIHAL: National Conference leader Sajjad Shaheen on Monday reiterated that service of the people will remain the core of party agenda, as it has been ever before.
“Times stand testimony to the fact that National Conference has emerged with renewed force after every challenge”, Shaheen said while addressing workers here. He asserted that the party will bounce back with added strength proving its track record.
Shaheen said that National Conference is the only party which can ensure inclusive development of all the three regions of the state besides forging unity among different segments of the society. He said that the party has been and will strive for assuaging the political and economic aspirations of all the regions and sub-regions.
“National Conference has upheld the glorious traditions of secularism during most turbulent times of history as a matter of conviction”, he said, adding that this philosophy remains the guiding force for the party. He recalled the role of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in strengthening bonds of brotherhood between communities during most crucial times of the history. The National Conference leader thanked the people of Banihal constituency for lending their valuable support during the recent elections, saying the morale of the cadre is very high despite setbacks. Assessing the reasons for the party not doing so well, he said that the workers and other functionaries will rejuvenate National Conference at all the levels. “Our focus will be on highlighting the problems of the people and seek their redressal in a time bound manner”, he added.
On the occasion, several leaders of the party addressed the gathering and made a pledge to strengthen it further at the grass roots level, adding that NC is not just a party but it is a public movement that has always stood for the just cause of the people.
