Parents of outstation NIT students hold protest VHP seeks FIR against cops

JAMMU: As the protest continued by the students of NIT Srinagar, parents of the wards on Friday again assembled at Press Club Jammu to highlight the situation erupted there at the NIT Campus and to restrain any such further happening demanding thereby either shifting of NIT Campus from Srinagar to some safer place or shifting their wards to other NIT Campuses. They pressed to take immediate action against the culprits (police authorities) who have beaten brutally the students causing thereby head injuries and fractures to them. They strongly condemned the action of JKP and further registering of FIR against the students evidencing thereby self manipulated videos.
The parents showed displeasure when Deputy Chief Minister of J&K returned back to Jammu without having an interaction/meeting with the students for want of security. “It is very shameful that a Dy. CM is not feeling secure there at Srinagar then what about the students who are facing threats from the very beginning of disturbance?” They said. They also felt discouraged on the inapt action taken by HRD Minister Smriti Irani. They urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and bail out students from the current morass. They further requested the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to ensure safety of students till their shifting to some other campus of NIT or shifting to NIT campus itself.
Meanwhile, activists of Vishav Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal staged a protest against condemnable action of both J and K Police and NIT Administration on innocent students of NIT Srinagar. They were demanding action against the culprits involved in ant-national activities.
Led by State President VHP, Leela Karan Sharma, the activists assembled at Rehari Chungi and raised slogans against the government. Asserting that enquiry conducted by local officer shall not be accepted, he demanded that an FIR should be registered against concerned SP and other cops responsible for the incident. He sought that the matter should be handed over to CBI for probe and also demanded that FIR should be lodged against anti-national elements. Suresh Chander, Shakti Dutt Sharma, Ashok Gupta, Surinder Aggarwal, Sushila Abrol and Rakesh Sharma were also present.
