KATHUA: Param FC on Friday made it to the final and shall now take on the formidable side of TA Sujanpur for the title clash in the ongoing Hiranagar Gold Cup Football Tournament at Sports Stadium, Hiranagar, here.
In the semifinal, Param FC defeated fighting United Kathua 4-2. Earlier, Param started well and took early lead scoring two back to back goals through Karun and Shubham. However, Kathua boys managed to reduce the lead before interval and kept up the attack. And, then they brought in an equaliser with Rahul Jasrotia netting the ball. Both teams played exciting football to find the winning goal. Deadlock was broken by Karun again when he scored on a free kick and thereby completed his hat-trick. It was a solo effort from Karun who dribbled the ball past entire Kathua team dodging the advancing goal keeper.
Match ended on a controversial note when refused to complete the match after conceding two consecutive goals. Referee finished the match after normal time and awarded the match to Param FC. Match was officiated by Bindu, Sachin, Shubham and Ronie Sharma.
