India by expressing solidarity with Pakistan in the wake of Peshawar school children killing by Taliban militants has shown that despite facing the malice it has stood with the neighbour during the hour of grief. It was a crime that offended humanity, going beyond long-standing national rivalries India and Pakistan may nurture. Keeping the civilisational bonds India moved a step further in the true spirit of humanity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, school children and people from all sections of the society were in one tune to convey and condemn the gruesome killing of more than 100 school children. The retaliation by Pakistan in killing more than 100 terrorists is what is needed to check the growing threat to humanity and to the bilateral relations in the sub-continent. Proactive policy is the need of the hour to counter the growing threat. Pakistan should now realise that terror is the biggest security threat the continent faces at present. This throws up the intriguing possibility of both nations collaborating in the fight against the real enemy that they both face. Both India and Pakistan should continue with talks for normalising the relations rather than keeping the hatred. There is no realistic prospect of either one ever being able to seize territory from the other. This calls for a measure of understanding between the two sides. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and General Raheel Sharif must take advantage of Modi’s offer of support in its fight against terror. Sharif needs to strengthen his security on the western front, for which an understanding has to be reached with India. Pakistan should shed duality and work sincerely with India to retain peace. Pakistan’s tipping point is an opportune moment to end its duality on terrorism and be part of global family. A check on its end would help Pakistan break its international isolation and thus strengthening its hands immensely in its fight against terror which in the long run would also help other countries to address the issues other than terrorism to bring peace and prosperity to the continent.
