JAMMU: In connection with the celebration of World Diabetes Day falling on 14th November, Janta Diabetes Care Centre, Talab Tillo and Jammu and Kashmir Fine Arts Society (JKFAS), organized 14th annual on the spot painting-cum-poster competition at Kamala Palace, here on Wednesday.
World Diabetes Day is celebrated to mark the Birthday of Dr. Feddrick Banting, Noble Prize winner, who discovered insulin in 1921, which has saved and changed life of millions of diabetics.
Senior Diabetologist and well known artist, Dr. Raj Kumar Sharma has been working relentlessly to make people aware about this disease and remove the myths about management of diabetes.
In the painting competition 20 schools of Jammu participated with more than 200 students putting their thoughts and concepts with the help of paint and brush on paper.
The competition was held on the concepts put forward by Dr. Raj Kumar which included Know Your Disease and Live Longer; Fast Food Kills Fast; Control your diabetes to prevent complications and Optimum calories, lesser the diabetes and insulin a friend in need.
Dr. Raj Kumar Sharma discussed about the various aspects in the management of the disease and that certain precautions and care can help in the management of diabetes and prevent long term complications.
The paintings were judged by Jagpal Singh, Ch. Sunder, Vijay Gupta and Sushil Dubey.
Secretary JAKFAS, Suresh Sharma presented vote of thanks.
JUNIOR: Diksha (Guru Nanak Public School) first, Komal Banhotra (Shangrilla Public School) second and Manish Kumar (SNS Higher Secondary School) third. Stuti Berda (Shangrilla Public School) and Mitali Chargotra (St.Xavier Convent School) won consolation prize.
SENIOR: Meenakshi Thakur (Shiksha Niketan School) first, Madhu (Army Public School Akhnoor) second and Shantnu Kumar (Shiksha Niketan School) third. Surya Pratap Singh (Ranjit Memorial School) and Himanshu Dogra (Shiksha Niketan School) won consolation prize.
