BANI: Bani’s Pahari Cultural Manch honoured Dr Rameshwar Singh, Zonal Medical Officer Koti Chandyar in Bani during the Bani Dangal Mela held on Monday.
On the occasion of Bani Dangal (Shinj) Mela, Dr Rameshwar Singh paid rich tributes to late Jaswant Lal Sondhi (Billa Shah) and late Amir Chand for their valuable contribution in promoting Wrestling (Dangal) in the hilly and tough geographic region of Kathua District. He said that they also did huge social work in Bani with Amir Chand contributing a lot for establishing Pahardi Cultural Manch. Dr Rameshwar thanked for presenting scintillating performances during the cultural programmes. He congratulated the public and organizers, especially the Himachali artists and President of Cultural Manch for making the Mela a grand success. He also thanked the organizers for honouring him on the occasion. Meanwhile, he presented a donation of Rs. 5000 to the Pahardi Cultural Manch on the occasion. It is pertinent to mention here that Bani historical Famous Dangal (Shinj) Mela was held for 3 days every year but it could not be held during the past two years due to Corona pandemic and this year it was held after a gap of two years. This local wrestling tournament is no less than a festival for the people here who feel highly excited to witness the bouts between the wrestlers from different states. This Mela that was initiated by late Billa Shah this year enthralled the spectators with attractive cultural programmes all the three days along with the Dangal. These programmes were organised by the Pahardi Cultural Manch and many popular and renowned personalities were invited to witness the Mela. Dr Rameshwar being a renowned social worker and Zonal Medical Officer in Bani and also a famous personality of Bani, therefore Pahardi Cultural Manch invited him as the special guest of the programme
The programme concluded with the organizing team thanking Dr Rameshwar Singh for the valuable contribution and sparing his valuable time for the event. Pahardi Cultural Manch Committee that managed the Mela programme comprised of Liyaqat Khan, Pawan Chawan, Ajab Singh, Des Raj, Dev Raj and Sushil Sarpanch.
