JAMMU: Over 300 girls are admitted to a vocational centre operated by Moulana Ali Miyan Nadwi Educational and Charitable Trust (MAMNECT) at Bathindi area whereas over 130 religious centres have been constructed by this trust along National Highway and border areas from Kathua to Ramban.
The so-called vocational centre, meant for religious teachings, constructed on 5 kanal state land had admitted girls from various states including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan besides from rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Tehsildar Bahu, in a written reply to Crime Branch, has confirmed that the 5-kanal land is a government land, encroached by the Moulana Ali Miyan Nadwi Educational and Charitable Trust led by Moulana Shakeel-Ur-Rehman Bhat.
Apprehending that the government may retrieve this encroached land and illegally constructed building, the MAMNECT had decided not to allow summer vacations this year to the inmates.
A five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by a senior Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) has been constituted to investigate the FIR (27/23) registered under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act with the Economics Offences Wing (EOW) of Jammu Crime Branch to probe misuse of funds received from various foreign based NGOs, contrary to the aims and objectives described in the trust deed of Moulana Ali Miyan Nadwi Educational and Charitable Trust (MAMNECT)Bathindi Jammu.

Action under law is likely to be taken against other religious centres and madarassas being run by MAMNECT.
