Orientation workshop on child protection held

RAJOURI: United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and National Development Foundation (NDF) on Tuesday organised orientation workshop on District Need Assessment’ (DNA) with regard to child protection, here.
District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Bhat, all SDMs, Chief Planning Officer, officers from Education, Social Welfare, Health, Labour Departments, civil society organisations were present on the occasion.
Chief Executive Officer NDF, Rajiv Khajuria gave a detailed presentation on child protection orienting participants on district need assessment followed by detailed presentation by Nikole from LEHER who are the technical partners for conduct of district need assessment in Rajouri District.
K.K Langer from Rotary International, Iqbal Shawl, other civil society members and officers highlighted various child protection issues in the district and importance to tackle them with a system in place.
DDC stressed upon the need of early implementation of ICPS scheme and JJ Act in the State to set systems and mechanisms of child protection in place. He directed government functionaries to support NDF and UNICEF in conduct of district need assessment through which all stakeholders may come to know what are the real issues and who has to work on what for ensuring care and protection of the children.
He said that in Rajouri District all line departments concerned with care and protection of the children will have to deliver for safety and security of the children.
