BHADARWAH: One person was killed and two others injured when the car they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge in Doda District.
The driver of the car lost control over the vehicle, due to slippery conditions and night fall, which fell into the gorge on the Thathri-Gandoh Road in the district, a police officer said.
After getting information, a police team and locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the Community Health Centre Thathri, where doctors declared one of them as brought dead, the officer said.
The deceased has been identified as Bhag Hussain, whereas the two injured are Sajjad Ahmed Khan and Rashid Ahmed of Kahara in the district.
The body was handed over to his family members for performing the last rites.
Expressing concern over frequency of road mishaps, Vice President JKPCC and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori has expressed extreme grief and sorrow over the tragic road accident in remote area of Thathri resulting in the loss of one person.
Saroori urged Governor N.N Vohra to take effective steps to check road accidents and pass directions to the Traffic Department to take adequate measures to check their recurrence. He also urged the Governor to provide adequate ex-gratia relief in favour of the deceased family members. In his condolence message, Saroori conveyed his heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family members and prayed to Almighty to grant peace to the departed souls.
