JAMMU: Veteran politician and Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party Prof Bhim Singh on Saturday alleged that he was subjected to humiliation by senior district officers of Poonch, who manhandled him while trying to forcibly evict him out of the Tourist Reception Centre in Poonch late last night.
Prof Bhim claimed that while resting in his room, he was informed that District Development Commissioner along with other officials, accompanied by police had come to see him in the TRC complex.
The NPP supremo claimed, “I was surprised as it was late in the night but when I met them they told me to vacate the room immediately”.
He said that when he wanted to know the pressing circumstances under which they were asking him to vacate the room, he was informed that they had received instruction from the office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu to get the room vacated.
When Prof Bhim Singh telephonically contacted the Divisional Commissioner and enquired about the purported directions, he feigned ignorance about the whole episode.
At this, Prof Bhim Singh refused to step out of the room, forcing the officers to make a retreat.
Inside reports revealed that a senior BJP leader from Rajouri had provoked the local officers to shift Prof Bhim Singh from the TRC complex.
Prof Singh is currently leading a Panthers Caravan from Jammu to Poonch as part of campaign that India is one from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Manipur to Dwarika with one flag, one Constitution to ensure fundamental rights to all Indian citizens residing in J&K.
