JAMMU: BJP State Spokesperson, Prof. Virender Gupta strongly criticised the statement of Omar Abdullah in the State Assembly on 22nd June, and said that Omar by his parochial, anti-Jammu and anti-national stand in the Assembly has lost the moral right to call himself as the leader of Jammu and Kashmir State and all the sections of the society.
“The alliance between BJP and PDP is an alliance between the people of Jammu region and that of Kashmir region and it is in no way an alliance on communal basis,” he said and warned Omar for playing the communal card by stating that had there been no alliance, the Hindus of Jammu would have killed the Muslims as in 1947.
“If Muslims were killed in Jammu region, the Hindus and Sikhs too were massacred in Muzfrabad, Mirpur and Poonch Districts and even in Uri and Baramulla and they have to leave their houses forever. Their womenfolk had to face humiliation, dishonour and separation from their male family members,” he reminded Omar adding that 1947 was a tragic travesty.
Gupta was also critical for Omar’s support to separatists and raising the issue of arrest of 800 youth, without making any introspection of his own period as Chief Minister, when about 150 youth were killed and hundreds were arrested.
He ridiculed former Chief Minister’s statement against 22 Jammu youth who were released overnight as no FIR was registered against them and his favouring of the police officer, who
was suspended for dereliction of his duties and his connivance in the sacrilegious act.
Omar complained that the Kashmiri youth who raised ISIS flags and pelted stones were booked and called them as our youth, as if their action was instigated by him, and as if he does not own the Jammu youth inspite being remained Chief Minister of the State.
Virender reminded Omar of his association and alliance with BJP as being the Union Minister of State in Vajpayee’s Cabinet and said that at that time BJP was not communal Jammu Hindus killed the Muslims were secular.
