Omar to contest from Beerwah, Sonwar; NC releases final list

SRINAGAR: Putting lid over the speculations about Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s turf for 2014 polls, National Conference in its fourth and final list, issued on Friday, declared Omar giving slip to NC bastion Ganderbal and fighting from Sonawar and Berwrah.
According to the much awaited list, Shiekh Ishfaq Jabbar will contest from Ganderbal, the seat held by the Chief Minister, and Gulmarg goes to Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal.
Omar will be contesting from two constituencies- Sonawar and Beerwah. He will be pitched against, among others, PDP’s Dr Shafi Ahmad Wani who already is a sitting MLA from Beerwah and Mohammad Ashraf Mir from Srinagar’s Sonawar constituency.
Aga Syed Mehmood will contest on NC ticket from Pattan against PDP’s Imran Raza Ansari whileas Chadoora constituency has been given to Ali Mohammad Dar. Rajya Sabha member Ghulam Nabi Ratanpuri will fight from south Kashmir’s Pulwama. Mohammad Sayeed Akhoon from Hazratbal and Mohammad Ahraf Ganai from Sopore. Kafeel-ur-Rehman will contest from Karnah while as Mohammad Abdullah Wani is the candidate for Bandipora constituency. For North Kashmir’s Langate assembly segment, NC has nominated Wali Mohammad while Mirza Abdul Rashid, former MP will contest from Rajouri. Dr. Riyaz Bhaderwahi is the party candidate for Bhaderwah, Sansar Chand for Chenani, Chaudhary Salaam Din for Inderwal, Surinder Singh Bunty will contest from Gandhi Nagar, Shakti Bala from Chhamb and Dr. Shamshad Shan will contest from Gool Arnas.
