Oil firms making efforts to restore fuel supplies

JAMMU: The oil marketing companies, Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, are making all-out efforts to restore petroleum supplies in the flood-affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
Senior officials of the three OMCs, camping in Jammu and Srinagar, are carefully monitoring the situation and have worked out a common plan to ensure supplies of petrol, diesel, LPG and kerosene in the flood-affected areas of Srinagar, Anantnag, Pulwama, Gandarbal, Kulgam, Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi districts with the help and support from the State Government and district administrations.
The bulk storage terminals of the OMCs at Jammu, Leh and Kargil have adequate stock of petroleum products and are operating normally, while Srinagar area continues to be cut-off due to flooding and disruption in road connectivity. However, petroleum installations in Srinagar have adequate stock to release as and when road movement is restored.
Supplies are being maintained to all points en route to Rajouri, Poonch and Kishtwar where road connectivity has been restored since. Pending restoration of road connectivity to other areas, arrangements have been made to position loaded tank-trucks at key positions for quick resumption of supplies once the road connectivity is restored. Alternative routes are also being explored for reaching petroleum supplies from Leh and Kargil to Srinagar and beyond.
Operations at the LPG bottling plants in Jammu and Leh are normal while the LPG plant in Pampore near Srinagar continues to be inundated by flood water. In case of LPG too, regular supplies are being maintained to areas connected by road, and there is no shortfall in bulk product at Jammu and Leh plants. Bulk LPG is being moved from Jalandhar and Loni to Jammu to meet the increased demand for LPG, if any. The LPG bottling plant at Leh also has adequate stock.
Refueling operations are normal at Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Udhampur, Awantipur and Pulwama airports. Adequate stocks of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) are available at the aviation fuel stations (AFSs) serving these airports.
