Nukkad Natak on ‘Drug Abuse’ staged at JU

JAMMU: The Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu in collaboration with Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu on Thursday staged a Nukkad Natak on the dangers involved in drugs consumption and also in its trade.
K.P Tiwari, Superintendant NCB, Jammu Zonal Unit was the Chief Guest at the occasion. The show was witnessed by a large number of students (mostly from hostels) in presence of Prof. Pankaj K. Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Rajiv Ratan, Provost Boys, hostel wardens Dr. Gurudev Singh and Dr. Sandeep, Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instructor, Ifra Kak, Cultural Officer and other officials from the University of Jammu and Narcotics Control Bureau.
The play warned about the outcomes of consuming drugs and other matters of intoxication, the pain it afflicts on its consumers is thousand times greater that the vicarious pleasure it offers. At no age you are mature enough to take decision to embrace drugs to escape the harsh realities of life but the decision taken to snub it and curb it makes you mature and sensible.
The actors presented different situations where the menace of drugs has consumed the lives of its takers and its traders also, it is like a live bomb which will certainly explode, sooner or later that is a different issue. The only way to escape from it is to stay away from it and also prevent your dear ones to go near it.
The message was clearly conveyed to the youth who appreciated the content of the play and acting of the performers particularly the acting of Dilshad Saazi who grabbed the attention of the audience with his energetic performance.
Prof. Srivastava said that such awareness activities on different topics of concern will be a regular feature.
