Nubra-Turtuk Tourism Authority: Councilors seek fair distribution of funds

LEH: While hailing the announcement by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for creating Nubra-Turtuk Tourism Development Authority, Councilors of Panamik, Tegar, Hunder and Deskit on Thursday expressed resentment regarding naming of the Tourism Development Authority as Nubra-Turtuk Tourism Development Authority and diverting huge funds for this small village.
“The most awaited announcement from the Government along with allocation of funds has came as a big shock as Turtuk is a small village amongst the 75 other villages of Nubra valley devoid of any major tourist attraction. Announcement of Turtuk-Nubra Development Authority and decision of alloting half of the funds for just one village is irrational and has created a widespread resentment among the people of Nubra valley with apprehension of emerging of law and order problem in the coming days”, they said in a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister.
“For the welfare and development of the entire Nubra valley and to avoid any law and order situation the Nubra valley, the announcement of Nubra-Turtuk Development Authority should be rescinded and funds should be allocated reasonably”, they demanded.
