JAMMU: National Students’ Union of India, J and K held a protest outside Jammu University campus against the university authorities and demanded scrapping of the introduction of 2 year B.Ed course in Jammu region.
Led by its State General Secretary, Avijot Singh, the protestors were demanding immediate revocation of this 2 year B.Ed programme.
Addressing the media persons, Avijot said that NSUI will not sit silent till it is immediately rolled back this anti-Jammu youth decision of State Government.
He also mentioned the fact that eligible conditions for B.Ed programme in Kashmir University is 45% merit in graduation but unfortunately it is 50% for Jammu.
He alleged that this discrimination and injustice with Jammu University students is intolerable. He added that how can two universities of the same State adopting two different yardsticks for the same B.Ed Course.
It is sheer injustice with the students of Jammu, he said and demanded that these callous norms specific to only Jammu University students should be revoked immediately.
Sunny Parihar, District President Jammu, while attacking the BJP Government, said that injustice and discrimination has again done with the people of Jammu region. He questioned on the silence of BJP MLAs who were portraying themselves as real sympathisers of Jammu region.
