JAMMU: National Panthers Student Union (NPSU) on Tuesday held a protest against State Government for not filling the post of Chief Information Commissioner and State Information Commissioner (SIC) at State Information Commission.
The activists of NPSU gathered in front of the main gate of University of Jammu and burnt the effigy of BJP-PDP Alliance Government amidst anti-government slogans for ignoring the collapse of RTI Act in J and K State.
The protest was led by Thakur Virender Singh, State President NPSU, who lambasted that this is really matter of concern that the State Information Commission is without Chief Information Commissioner since long time and no initiative have been taken by State Government to fill the vacant post of SIC.
Singh asked the legislatures of J and K to break the silence on this issue and the issue must be raised and solved in order to save the RTI Act.
He also warned the State Government if any positive step is not taken in order to fill all the vacant post of State Information Commission, then NPSU is going to launch massive agitation.
Others present in the protest included Shubam Singh, Lovely Singh, Shubam Jasrotia, Bhupinder Singh, Chetan Sharma, Prabjot Singh, Kunal Goswami, Sumit Singh, Amit Chib, Rishikesh Bhardwaj and Sumit Chib.
