UDHAMPUR: Panthers activists led by Balwant Singh Mankotia, State President JKNPP staged a protest against the BJP and PDP for remaining silent over the sedition rows. Panthers Party activists gathered at Slathia Chowk Udhampur and took out protest rally which passing through different Bazaar finally reached at Dabbar Chowk Udhampur where they burnt the effigy of State Govt.
Expressing shock over NIT issue and double stand of BJP, Mankotia deplored the ugly episode of clash inside the NIT Srinagar campus on the eve of semi-final match of T20 World Cup when certain anti-national elements rejoiced India’s defeat by the Caribbean. He sought strict action against the felons under law who indulged in anti-national activities by raising anti India slogans and pelting stones on those raising pro- India slogans.
He maintained that the delinquents who were involved in India bashing were required to be booked for sedition besides other provisions of the Ranbir Penal Code. Mankotia further rebuked the torching of Tricolour and pro- Pak sloganeering in Indira Gandhi Govt. Dental College Jammu by some mischievous elements and sought invocation of appropriate provisions of law against the malefactors.
Ridiculing the police for invoking insignificant provisions against them as an eye wash, he reckoned that since a popular government had sworn in J and K, it was now the moral duty of the coalition to take punitive steps against the felons who were hell bent to vitiate peace and harmony in the State. He condemned the State Government for pathetic plight of pro-India students of NIT Srinagar who were being assaulted, abused, manhandled not only by the anti-national element but even were being threatened by local administrations and faculty members. He called for provision of adequate security to the said students who had been traumatised by the ugly turn of events.
He asked the BJP that why those anti national elements were not booked under sedition and where was nationalistic character of BJP when the students having national flag in hands were brutally beaten by police in the campus. He demanded immediate action against police personal who restored unprovoked lathi charge on nationalist students and also strict action who anti national slogan inside the campus without any further delay.
Prominent among other who were present on the occasion included Sarpanch Sunil Gudda, Jagdev Jagga youth president, Amar Nath Mehra, Sanjay Sharma, City President Gulshan Kesar, Rocky Sharma, Ajay Singh, Deepak Singh, Pawan Kumar, Sardar Gurmeet Singh, Sardar Manjeet Singh and Ganesh Sharma.
