NPP celebrates Foundation Day, seeks reorganisation of J&K

JAMMU: JKNPP celebrated 35th Foundation Day at Jammu, winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The senior leaders of the party sought reorganization of J&K with establishment of twin states viz Jammu State and Kashmir Ghati State as they existed before 1846.
The senior leaders of NPP who addressed the historic Foundation Day of the NPP include Prof. Bhim Singh (Chief Patron), its Chairman Harsh Dev Singh, State President Balwant Singh Mankotia (Vice President), P.K. Ganju, Masood Andrabi and Anita Thakur (General Secretaries), Manju Singh, District Rajouri President Gulam Mustafa Wani and others.
On the occasion, several resolutions were passed including reorganization of J&K on the basis of the cultural, geographical, linguistic and political identity of each region with separate Legislative Assemblies, separate Budgets, separate Recruitments and Public Service Commissions, separate Planning Commissions, separate Delimitation Commissions and of course separate Chief Ministers, may be one Governor and one High Court, amendment in Article 370 to empower Parliament to legislate in respect of matters listed in the union list to ensure smooth relations of the State with the rest of the country, delimitation of Assembly Constituencies to remove regional and political discrimination, changing term of Legislative Assembly to five years instead of six, reservation for the ST community in the Legislative Assembly and ST status to Pahari-linguistic population and Kolis should be accorded, Pakistani Refugees who came in 1947/48 and lawfully settled in J&K should be granted permanent residents status, regularization of daily wagers after completion of five years term, comprehensive settlement of refugees of 1947, 1965, 1971, 1997 from PoK in accordance with International Law, designation of Mubarak Mandi as International Dogra Cultural Center (IDCC) and International University for Dogra Culture and Art should be set up at this historic site, etc. Besides other burning issues pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir, the JKNPP leaders also discussed matters regarding national and international relevance. The achievements of the party were also discussed threadbare.
