Jammu: Police on Tuesday nabbed a thief and recovered stolen items worth lakhs from his possession.
On September 23, 2024 one Mohd Akbar, son of Late Bhag Ali, resident of Kot Badhani, Tehsil Bhalwal, District Jammu, lodged a written complaint at police station Gharota regarding the theft of his HP laptop along with some accessories from his house by unknown thieves.
In this connection case, FIR No. 89/2024 under Section 305(A) BNS was registered at Police Station Gharota, and the investigation was started.
During the investigation, designated team of the police headed by SHO Gharota*collected *CCTV footage from various locations and gathered technical signatures further upon analyzing the evidence gathered a suspect namely Sahil Kumar S/O Ganesh Lal, R\O Ghari ,Tehsil Marh, District Jammu was identified.Sahil Kumar was taken into police custody under Section 35(A) BNS for a thorough investigation in connection with FIR No. 89/2024 under Section 305(A) BNS.
During questioning, the suspect confessed his involvement in the theft. Based on his disclosure and identification, one HP laptop along with accessories was recovered from his residence .Further interrogation revealed that he had also stolen several mobile phones from different locations .Consequently, the police team recovered eight mobile phones from various places. Father investigation is going on and more recovery is expected.
Meanwhile, a scooty was stolen from Moti Bazaar in a broad daylight while a bullet motorcylce was also stolen from Talli Morh area.
