JAMMU: A Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Hasnain Masoodi and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal on Saturday issued notices to Chief Secretary, Navin Aggarwal, Director General Sports, J and K Sports Council and others and directed respondents to file statement of facts in contempt petition filed for lending out MA Stadium for holding public meeting.
The contempt petition was filed by Laxmi Cricket Club, Jammu through its president V.K Sabharwal and others for disobeying the orders of the Court in WPPIL 20/2014 dated 11th November 2014 whereby the respondents have intentionally and deliberately flouted the orders of the Court. The petition also sought for inflicting punishment on the respondents for not obeying and implementing orders of the Court in letter and spirit.
The public meeting ‘Vishal Sadbhavana Sammelan’ was organised by Manav Utthan Sewa Samiti, Jammu at MA Stadium on 2nd and 3rd May, 2015 by self-styled spiritual Saint Satpal Ji Maharaj in clear violation of the orders of the High Court. The ground was used for purposes of erection of stage, erection of arches and decorative entries apart from beautifying the stage. Advocate Aprajita Jamwal appeared for the PIL. (JNF)
