‘Do not encroach footpaths, pavements’

JAMMU: To make Jammu City congestion free, Joint Commissioner (A) JMC, R.S Jamwal and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Arun Manhas urged upon shopkeepers to keep their belongings inside their establishments, as this is the main cause of hindrance in free flowing of vehicular movement and always lead to traffic jams in City.
In this connection, Joint Commissioner (A) JMC and ADC Jammu conducted an extensive tour of the areas Parade, Moti Bazar, Purani Mandi, Raj Tilak Road, Super Bazar, City Chowk, Raghunath Bazar, Hari Market, Upper Gumat etc. and interacted with different shopkeepers associations as well as with the residents of the above said areas.
During the tour, Vinod Kumar, Supdt of Police (North), Vivek Shekhar, SDPO City, Tajinder Singh, Dy. S.P (Traffic) along with their subordinate staff accompanied the Joint Commissioner and ADC Jammu.
Jamwal and Manhas appealed to the different market associations as well as general public not to park their vehicles on roads to avoid traffic congestions and inconvenience to the general public as well.
They assured the public that they will make a traffic movement plan of these markets and some areas will be declared as ‘No Parking Zones’ and some roads will also be designated as ‘One Way Traffic’.
Jamwal warned that the shopkeepers if they would fail to remove the encroachments made by them in that case action will be taken against defaulters under the J&K Municipal Corporation Act.
