JAMMU: Seeking scrapping of SRO 202, the All J and K Newly Appointed Non Gazetted Employees urged upon the Provincial President National Conference, Devender Singh Rana to use his good offices for dispensing justice to this category of employees in the State.
Raising the issue when the Association functionaries called on the Provincial President here, they described the SRO discriminatory; saying its Clause 8 and 9 has already been repealed by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court for its employees, which has been implemented by the Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Department thus giving much needed respite to the employees.
“On the same analogy, the judgement of the High Court be implemented in other departments as well for the category of employees appointed under SRO 202”, the delegation demanded while elaborating on the discrimination they were subjected to. They said that this SRO is violative of the labour laws as far as remunerations to workers are concerned.
“Even the Supreme Court has directed all the states to pay a minimum of Rs 18,000 per month to the casual labourers and we being the permanent government employees deserved more than that”, they said adding that with the meager salary of Rs 7,000 -8,000 for the recruits under SRO 202, they were not able to take care of their families in these harder days.
“Since the SRO 202 was implemented for Jammu Kashmir Subordinate Services Board and Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission recruits, it stands abolished for recruitments by the PSC”, the delegation said and demanded scrapping of this SRO for the employees appointed by the JKSSB.
The Provincial President heard the plea of the delegation and assured that the points raised would be taken up at appropriate forum for consideration.
