Non-availability of basic amenities reflects coalition’s failure: Cong MLC

STATE TIMES NEWS
KATHUA: Expressing his anguish over total failure of official machinery to solve day today problems of the people, senior Congress leader and Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), Thakur Balbir Singh on Friday regretted common masses have to agitate on streets just to get adequate drinking water and power supply during these hostile weather conditions.
“The way people are forced to take on streets against non-availability of basic amenities like drinking water, ration and power is an indication of the total failure of the PDP-BJP Government”, Thakur Balbir Singh said, while addressing series of public meetings at Ramkote, Gujjroo Nagrota, Tharra Kalwal, Rajwal, Deval, Billawar, Hiranagar and Kathua in connection with his three-day tour of different areas of Kathua District. MLC Thakur Balbir Singh conducted an extensive tour of Billawar, Kathua and Hiranagar Assembly segments to interact with the people to know their problems. “People have no other option but to come on roads to agitate for getting drinking water, ration and power”, he said and pointed out that PDP-BJP coalition regime has done nothing to solve basic problems of the people. Instead of solving peoples’ problems, leaders of coalition are over-burdened with solving their own internal conflicts and bickering. He said that two and half year period of PDP-BJP regime is marked with conflict and fissures.
He observed that day today problems of the people are compounding with every passing day and leaders of both the coalition partners are brazenly indulging into legalising corruption and nepotism.
Lambasting coalition parties in general and BJP in particular, Thakur Balbir Singh said that this party has betrayed people of Jammu region as nothing has been done to solve their day today problems. BJP has failed on all fronts to provide an honest, accountable, efficient and clean administration in the State.
The MLC said that legalising corruption was the only noticeable achievement of this regime as this government has failed to keep a check on corruption in the administration.
“Most of the announcements made by the government to ensure supply of adequate water remains only on papers” he said while pointing towards acute scarcity of potable water in Kandi areas of Kathua District.
