No water borne disease found in Ramban


SRINAGAR: Minister of State for Cooperatives, Dr. Manohar Lal on Friday said that due to contamination of some Water Supply Schemes in Ramban Constituency during rainy season, the water supply of drinking water during that period was stopped and drinking water to the people of the areas was provided through water tankers.
Replying to a Calling Attention Notice by Ashok Kumar in the legislative Assembly, the minister informed that no complaint of occurrence of any water borne disease has come to the notice of the department till date. He said chlorination of water has been regularly made in service reservoirs.
The minister informed the provision for construction of filtration plant is kept in DPRs of such schemes where raw water is proposed to be tapped or lifted for drinking purposes. He said two Rapid Sand Filtration Plants at Ramban and Batote with capacity of 5,000 gallons per hour are functional, besides, one slow sand filtration plant at Kunfer Chanderkote is also functional. He said the construction work of one more rapid sand filtration plant with capacity of 15000 gallons per hour for Ramban town is under tendering process.
