SRINAGAR: Following rout in the Parliamentary and Assembly elections across Jammu and Kashmir last year, National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday indicated to show door to old faces and make drastic changes in party portfolios from top to bottom.
Quoting sources, a Srinagar based news agency reported that while meeting with several delegations of party workers at his Gupkar residence, Dr Farooq said that there will be complete overhauling in the party and no space will be given to the cheaters, opportunists and cunning people.
“The party has zeroed on several names, which will either be ousted from the party or their responsibilities will be taken away. All in all a complete ‘re-shuffle’ is what the National Conference is going to experience soon,” Sources said while quoting Dr Farooq. According to the sources NC patron also said that the senior leaders have failed to address the problems of NC workers and therefore, there is widespread discontent within the party organisation. “The party has decided to bring some young, honest and dedicated people who can be assigned with top positions in the party,” he said.
Farooq Abdullah is reported to have warned the NC leaders not to use the party as per their will and taste, as used to be previously and asked them to be ready for a major change in the party portfolios in both parent and youth wing. “Everything will be scrutinised now onwards with utmost care to reach to the people. Some people have deceived the party. There will be no space for them in the party,” he has said.
