JAMMU : Denying that no letter of support has been issued by Mahant Manjit Singh Ji of Dera Nagali Sahib Poonch to favour PDP candidate from Gandhi Nagar Assembly segment, Avtar Singh Khulra General secretary United Front and office bearers of various sikh organization said that Shiromani Dera Nagali Sahib Poonch is a non-political Dera and its head Mahant Manjit Singh Ji is a religious personality who does not indulge into politics adding that he has not declared support to any political party during elections. Khalsa and office bearers of other Sikh organisations addressing the press conference said that the Sikhs will not allow the name of this Holy Dera to be exploited for anybody’s political gains and further said that people in democracy are free to exercise their right franchise according to their wishes. They categorically denied to have issued any letter of support or any announcement has been made by Mahant Manjit Singh Ji in any Gurdwara directing Sikhs to cast their votes to any particular political party.
The leaders of Sikh organisations said that anybody exploiting the name of Mahant Manjit Singh Ji would be committing a crime and would be liable to be proceeded against.
Prominent among those present in the press conference include Gajan Singh, Paramjit Singh, Surinder Singh Kala, Kultar Singh, Gurdev Singh, Sandeep Singh, Ravinder Singh Kala, Charanjeev Singh Lad, Devinder Singh, Aya Singh, Manmohan Singh, Harbans Singh, Balbir Singh Pinka, Harpal Singh Prince and Kulwant Singh.
