NO FIR LODGED AGAINST LADY INSPECTOR, AIDE Traffic cops traumatise pregnant lady; blood loss leads to miscarriage

JAMMU: Known for abdicating their designated responsibility, Traffic Police on Thursday came for sharp scanner over the ‘over-smart’ men in blues traumatising a pregnant lady by not letting the car she was travelling in to proceed towards a Nursing Home in Nagrota from Bajalta, as a consequence of which, and in the wake of profuse bleeding, her pregnancy got terminated.
The outraged mother-in-law and the husband of the helpless lady, who were taking her to the Nursing Home in Swift Dzire JK02 EJ 1373, lodged strong protests with Police Station Nagrota, which till late night failed in filing FIR against delinquent and arrogant Lady Traffic Police Inspector and one of the cops.
Abdul Hussain 28, the husband of the pregnant lady Sultana 26, along with mother were proceeding towards Choudhry Nursing Home after the patient developed pain. Upon reaching bye-pass at around 5 PM the cops stopped the vehicle for unknown reasons and on being told that a seriously ill patient was being shifted to the Nursing Home, the cops did not let the vehicle go. The elderly mother-in-law virtually begged of the cops, especially the Lady Inspector, but they kept on argumentation which lasted for crucial 70 minutes, according to Hussan.
He told STATE TIMES that when the cops allowed  the vehicle go, it was perhaps too late. “To our utter shock, we were told at the Nursing Home that due to immense bleeding there was no option but to terminate the pregnancy for saving the life of the lady, already mother of a child”, Hussain broke down while narrating.
The traumatized pregnant lady kept shrieking due to intensity of the pain and shock of losing the baby. The arganised family, in a state of shock, decided to report the matter to police and went to the Nagrota Police Station.
“Despite agreeing in principle to book the arrogant Lady Traffic Inspector and one of her aides, the police did not lodge an FIR till late evening”, Hussain said, adding that he was asked to report again to the Police Station tomorrow or day after. Apprehensive about inaction, he said the family is so outraged that if the Police fails in taking action against the erring cops, they will be forced to stage dharna outside Raj Bhavan, the residence of the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and the Police Headquarters.
“But for the delay of crucial 70 minutes, the baby would have been saved”, said emotionally choked Abdul Hussain.
The SHO Nagrota Karan Chalotra and SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan did not respond to the repeated calls from the STATE TIMES till late night.
However, SP (Rural) Jammu Arun Kumar told STATE TIMES that he was not briefed about this incident. “If a complaint has been lodged against anyone in police station, It is our duty to register FIR,” he said while asserting that if the complainant has reported matter to the Nagrota police station, an FIR will certainly be lodged and matter investigated.
