No decision yet on making new administrative units operational: Govt

SRINAGAR:Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday admitted that no decision had been taken to operationase the new administrative units created in 2014. To a question raised by MLA Nagrota, Devender Singh Rana, Minister incharge Revenue stated, in a written reply to Legislative Assembly, that the matter regarding creation of necessary manpower and infrastructure to operationse these units is being examined in consultation with Finance and Planning and Development Departments. Rana, who is representing Nagrota Constituency where several such units had been created vide Government Order No Rev (S) 242 of 2014 dated 21st October, 2014, including Tehsil headquarters at Jandrah, had asked as to when these units would be made functional. He had also wanted to know as to what progress has been made in making these units operational for taking administration to the doorsteps of the people.
The decision with regard to creation of new administrative units had been taken during the tenure of Omar Abdullah as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
