NMC appeals Chief Minister to regularise all daily wage workers in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu: The National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today appealed to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to formulate comprehensive policy for regularisation of all daily wage workers engaged in various state government departments after March 31, 1994.

“We appeal the Chief Minister to formulate comprehensive policy for regularisation of all daily rated workers engaged in various departments after March 31, 1994,” NMC President Subash Shastri told reporters here.

The decision in this regard should be taken before the enforcement of Model code of conduct for the local bodies elections, which is likely to be held in September/October this year, he said, adding, that this would be the important issue in the forthcoming elections of local bodies.

Shastri said that these daily wagers were facing hardships due to price hike and inflation and as their services have not been regularised so far they were not getting their monthly wages in time.

While pleading the cause of the state government employees and pensioners, Shastri demanded early release of six per cent DA due from January last in their favour.

The state government has already earmarked funds for the purpose in the current year financial budget stressing that since DA is the part of the salary, hence pending 6 per cent DA instalment should be released as early as possible, he added.

Shastri also demanded creation of separate wage heads in each department for regularly disbursement of their monthly wages, enhancing medical allowance to Rs 1,000 per month, increase monthly salary to daily rated workers to Rs 10,000 per month, removing pay anomalies of clerical cadre and early release of 5th instalment of the 6th pay commission arrears.
