NIT Srinagar issue exposes BJP’s hypocrisy: Sham

STATE TIMES NEWS
AKHNOOR: The sequence of unfortunate incidents that happened in NIT Srinagar and its inapt handling by stakeholders in State and Central dispensations has once again exposed the hypocrisy of BJP in tackling similar situations in different institutions. For JNU, BJP adopts one parameter and in NIT Srinagar toeing a different line, it strayed from its ideology and slapped FIR against 20 innocent students who raised pro-India slogans and waved National Flag. Surely, BJP has compromised on its ideology for the petty gain of power in State.
This was stated by senior Vice President Congress and former Minister Sham Lal Sharma while addressing party’s monthly block committee meeting here on Friday. He, in very strong words condemned the NIT Srinagar incident and alleged that the day BJP-PDP alliance government took over the charge of State, the things have turned from bad to worse.
“PDP-BJP government has again turned out to be a complete failure in all fronts, let it be the question of good governance or bringing peace to the Valley”, he added.
BJP-PDP government’s silence on NIT Srinagar incident has exposed categorically exposed its inability to rein in anti-national elements who have started their over-ground operations more actively.
Expressing concern over the rising trend of anti-national activities, Sham said those who are waving National Flag and raising pro-India slogans are being harassed and are living under the threat.
The government has utterly failed in providing security to these students. He said that students were brutally baton-charged in the campus while police denying the fact, claimed that they were compelled to use mild force on the students since they were trying to move out on the main road. “This is the very first gift given by the PDP-BJP government to the people of J and K”, he said.
BJP is thrusting slogan of Bharat Mata Ki Jai on others but while taking oath none of the BJP Ministers raised this slogan,” he added.
During the meeting, the present AYC President Akhnoor was elevated and inducted in Block Congress Committee. In his place Naresh Kumar was promoted as AYC President Akhnoor.
Pranav Shagotra State President J&K PYC, Kuldeep Verma Ex Vice Chairman OBC, Chetan Wanchoo State Spokesperson J&K PYC, Ram Swaroop Senior Congress leader, Deedar Hussain Vice Chairman ST Cell JKPCC, Subash Langer Convenor BCC, Aman Gupta and others were also present.
