JAMMU: Nirvana Academy on Sunday organised seventh season of musical competition in Pandit Uma Dutt Sangeet Mahotsav at City Square, here.
Former HoD Fine Arts College, Krishan Lal Verma was the Chief Guest while Vice Chairman Federation of Indian Blood Donor Organisations (FIBDO), Vikrant Dogra was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.
Programe was supported by Surya Milk, City Square Mall, Royal Wedding and event planners, Heritage Strings, FIBDO and JMU Plus social networking partner.
Naval Deep Kour hosted the programme, Sanchit Dewan coordinated the event and sound was designed by Anshul.
More than 120 participants from different parts of Jammu region took part in the programme.
The main motive of the programme was to explore hidden talent among the children, youth and budding artists of the State so that they can be able to compete with the other talented youth of the country.
Participants displayed their talent in different age group categories of the competition.
P.S Wazir a retired Army officer and Golden Guitar Awardee adjudged the programme.
President, Nirvana Academy, Hitesh Badyal said he had organized various such programmes earlier also and succeeded in bringing all such talented, budding artist under one umbrella.
Chief Guest threw the light on the life and achievements of Pandit Uma Dutt Sharma. He said that Pandit Uma Dutt was born in April 1900 and received his training on Tabla and Pakhawaj from his Guru Sardar Harnam Singh.
Pandit was one of the few artists from Jammu, who used to give performances in vocal music from Lahore radio station. He said that Uma Dutt gave the responsibility of taking the Santoor on the world stage to his son Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma after extensive research on its possibilities.
Prominent persons present were Meenakshi Sharma General Secretary NA, Vikas Dogra Vice President Prayas, Vikul Gupta, Shivam Badyal, Paramjeet Kour, Neha Verma and Nishant Vaid.
