JAMMU: Advocate Nirmal Kishore Kotwal has been elected as new President of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu (JKHBAJ) and Advocate Baldev Singh as new Vice President.
As per the results of the election announced late midnight, Advocate Pardeep Majotra has been elected as General Secretary, Advocate Anshu Mahajan Joint Secretary and Rahul Aggarwal as Cashier of Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association.
Out of the total 2105, 1904 votes were polled.
The results were announced by Vikram Sharma, former President of the Bar Association, who was the Returning Officer.
Advocate Nirmal Kishore Kotwal secured 1031 votes while the other contenders for the post, Abhinav Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Pawan K. Kundal and Bhavishya Sudan secured 446, 318, 61 and 38 votes respectively.
Advocate Baldev Singh, who has been elected as Vice-President of the Bar Association secured 990 votes whileas other candidates for this post, Deepika Mahajan, Daljeet Manhas and Ashwani Kumar Banotra got 548, 327 and 29 votes respectively.
Advocate Pardeep Majotra was elected as General Secretary by securing 749 votes. His rivals Arjun Singh Pathania, Himanshu Sharma and Ahtsham Hussain Bhat secured 547, 443 and 155 votes respectively.
Advocate Anshu Mahajan emerged as winner for the post of Joint Secretary by bagging 1215 votes against rival Rahul Sharma who got 672 votes.
Advocate Rahul Aggarwal has been elected as Cashier of the Bar Association. He secured 1170 votes against his rivals Jameel Choudhary who secured 375 votes and Atul Sharma, who got 360 votes.
