Nirmal celebrates Diwali with BSF jawans

JAMMU: Saluting the bravery and sacrifices of our soldiers, the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh said that they stand guardian to our borders and it is due to their dedication that we sleep peacefully in our homes.
Dr Singh said this while celebrating Diwali with the jawans of 192 battalion of Border Security Force at R S Pura.
Minister for PHE, Flood Control, Irrigation Sham Lal Choudhary, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal, IG BSF D.K Upadhyaya, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Simrandeep Singh, DIG BSF Dharmendra Parikh, Commandant 192 Bn BSF P S Sandhu, Senior leader Mamta Singh and other prominent people joined the diwali celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister said that the patriotism and devotion with which the jawans of Border Security Force fulfill their duties facing all odds is commendable and the entire nation feels indebted to them.
“We, the people are indebted to their sacrifice which is honourable and precious to us”, he said.
Stressing that this year’s Diwali was dedicated to the army and para-military forces, Singh said we are able to celebrate festivals joyfully in the country, because of the soldiers who are guarding the border day and night and spending sleepless nights.
Deputy Chief Minister also distributed sweets among the soldiers and exchanged Diwali greetings with them.
He also lit up an earthen lamp as part of “Ek Diya Shaheedon Ke Naam initiative”, for those soldiers who laid their lives for nation and who dedicated their whole life towards protecting our motherland, and making us feel safe and secure as one nation.
