NHPC pays highest ever interim dividend of Rs 1,882 cr

JAMMU: NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydro power company and a ‘Mini Ratna’ Category-I Enterprise of the Government of India, has paid an interim dividend of Rs. 1,402.21 crore to Government of India for the financial year 2016-17.
The dividend payout bank advice for an amount of Rs. 1402.21 crore was presented to Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (Independent charge) for Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy and Mines, by K.M Singh, CMD, NHPC in the presence of P.K Pujari, Secretary (Power), Govt. of India, Ratish Kumar, Director (Projects), NHPC, Balraj Joshi, Director (Technical), NHPC, Mahesh Kumar Mittal, Director (Finance), NHPC and D. Chakraborty, General Manager (Finance), NHPC.
The NHPC Board had declared an interim dividend at the rate of Rs.1.70 per Equity share i.e. 17 per cent of the face value of share.
NHPC today has more than eight lakh shareholders and total interim dividend of Rs. 1,882.02 crore has been paid for the year 2016-17 as against total dividend of Rs. 1660.61 crore for the financial year 2015-16 (including interim dividend of Rs. 1018.50 crore).
NHPC has earned net profit of Rs. 2627.17 crore for the nine months ended December 2016 for the financial year 2016-17 as against the previous period corresponding figure of Rs.2184.41crore.
