Safai Karamcharis observe Kaam Chhoro Hartal

JAMMU: Hitting out at Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) authority and State Government for not redressing their demands despite warning, a large number of protesting Safai Karamcharis and other municipal employees today took out a protest march.
They assembled at Exhibition Ground from where they took out protest march towards Town Hall via Dogra Chowk, Vinayak Bazaar and Gummat.
After reaching near the Office of JMC Commissioner, the protesters held a demonstration raising slogans against concerned authorities and in favour of their demands.
“At numerous times they had given representation and submitted charter of demands to the concerned authorities but no positive action has been taken by the municipal administration,” CSKU president Rinku Gill said.
The employees are demanding re-organisation of JMC, scrapping of NGO system in JMC, deployment of municipal employees in wards instead of parking slots, regularisation of contractual drivers of JMC who have completed nine years service, holding of DPC for all cadres etc.
“This protest will go on till our demands are met,” Rinku Gill warned.
Others present were Ranjit Singh, President, Drivers and Cleaners Union, Rohit George, President, Clerical Union of Rajinder Kumar, Gulzar Masih, Jeewan Singh, Ravinder Bhatt, Sharda Kumari, Ashwani Sidhu, Manga Masih, Razak Bhatti, Balkar Singh, Jaspal singh, Narinder Singh, Chanchal, Tarseem, Rakesh Masih, Shaba, Jewels Sotra, Rajesh, Marshal, Rajinder Bhatia, Baghicha Singh, Kulvinder Khokhar and Raju Bali.
Meanwhile, the situation is turning from bad to worse due to continued strike of Safai Karamcharis as drains are blocked and dumps of solid are seen at every nook and corner of Jammu city besides Gandhi Nagar, Hospital Road and Bus Stand area.
